First submitted in July 2021, the scheme has now been approved by Buckinghamshire Council. It will replace a group of sheds on the edge of Tring and provide flexible workspaces in a wonderful setting looking out over Aylesbury Vale.

The Garden SEN School opens a new 16-18 school, The Pavilion.
Originally known as New Regents College the school consists of two very different buildings: the 1960 ‘Training Centre’ and Foster Associates (now Foster and Partners) 1972 Special Care Unit. Each building characterises the architectural thinking of its time and has been remodelled by paring away many of the unwanted and unsympathetic alterations of the intervening decades.

The project that was begun pre-Covid as a courtyard project to redevelop a site in Buckinghamshire with two existing sheds has now proceeded to Planning stage with a more open approach to suit the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in which it lies. The proposal will reorganise the existing accommodation into a smaller footprint under a planted roof supported on timber structure and screening.

Roofscape at Middlebeck school, Newark.
The roofscape is now taking shape at Middlebeck - one of the defining features of the new school. The roof will be finished with a zinc coated aluminium and will overhang to form an overhanging canopy. Middlebeck School has started on site and the footprint of phase 1 is now visible from the air. Contractor Lindum Construction are now beginning the process of erecting steelwork which will take place over the next month which is here photographed from a drone in November sunshine.

A new addition for the Garden School in Hackney. Part greenhouse, part potting shed and part classroom, this outdoor classroom will offer a new space for teaching horticulture skills.

The design for a new 2.5 FE Primary School for Urban & Civic which will be operated by the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham, sits at the centre of the new Middlebeck development on the southern edge of Newark which will provide up to 3,150 homes.
