Baden Powell School receives Planning Consent

The Planning Application for Baden Powell School submitted in August 2025, has received Planning Consent.

Baden Powell School is a ‘SCOLA’ system-built steel frame school which opened in 1971. The school has operated as a Primary school since its opening and has sadly closed due to its falling roll. This proposal will see the school reopened as an extension to Ickburgh School – a Special Needs School for pupils living with Autism – and the opportunity is being taken to bring the ageing fabric up to modern standards of insulation, services and finish.

New Air Source Heat Pumps and Roof mounted Photovoltaic panels will be installed in place of ageing gas boilers – systems developed by Integration MEP Engineers – in coordination with the fabric upgrade and replacement of all cladding, windows and doors. The original Caretakers house will be converted into the Food Technology classroom combined with a public facing Cafe and new improved public access will be made to the Games Court and Changing rooms. The project is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and is planned to reopen in September 2027.
