Stadt Museum, Kassel

This competition proposal concentrates the new extension into one single volume sitting at roof level on the existing museum.

This restores the original profile of the building by removing the incongruous 1950’s roof and replacing it with a new level set behind a restored parapet – providing a new vantage point with views over the city.

This floor houses administrative areas, forum and bar space behind a veil of distinctive gold mesh cladding, providing solar control and a distinctive new crown to the re-ordered building
