Highcross Affordable Housing

New residential development for Hammerson of affordable housing which creates a new pedestrian street leading to the redeveloped central Highcross Quarter and overlooks the All Saints neighbourhood,

The single aspect arrangement is addressed by exploiting depth within the west elevation and angling the facades of each apartment to give oblique views over the surrounding city. Perforated screens provide solar control with existing and new trees forming a natural screen along the west side – another filtering layer which benefits the apartments.

The new block forms part of a broader planning strategy to increase residential space within the city centre and helps to develop a link from the city centre via the new All Saints neighbourhood and through to the Riverside.
