Classroom of the future project

This is a prototype expandable mobile classroom, developed by GLA and LB of Camden as part of a DfES initiative initiative of 30 pilot projects exploring future learning environments.

Delivered off the back of a standard flat bed lorry, the capsule extends to create a wide footprint with a single open space, top lit from a continuous rooflight with fold down stage and ramp access.

The concept was to develop a flexible ICT rich environment capable of easy transformation to support innovative and changing use.

The classroom is fitted with workstations, recording facilities and audio/visual equipment.

Winner of an RIBA award in 2008.
